Description: Feeling the pressure to be funny? Feeling disconnected to your scene partners? Feeling the audience pull away? The answer is obvious… be obvious!

In this special workshop, students will learn tools in order to better lean into their inspiration and stay in the moment during improvisation. Participants will work alongside their scene partners to push narrative through clearer choices and offers, as well as connecting to the audience by taking care of them and their “expectations”.

Remove the stress and pressure of being too original in your scene work and discover how obvious choices onstage can be much more rewarding - to you and the audience!

Goal: To facilitate students’ personal growth as improvisors through advanced exercises and scenework focusing specifically on how to make better offers.

Prerequisite: Improv Foundation 4 or equivalent
Class Size: 10 people max.
Duration: 6 weeks. 12.5 hours total

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR:
Alexa MacKell is an improviser, comedian, and actor who has been improvising and teaching improv for over ten years. Born and raised in Calgary, she studied at the Loose Moose Theatre Company under the training of Dennis Cahill and Keith Johnstone. She moved to Toronto in 2023, and has been regularly performing in improv shows at Bad Dog Theatre, as well as in the positively-reviewed improv show “Andrew Phung and Friends”. In addition to performing and teaching improv, she is an actor who has appeared in TV shows such as “Run the Burbs”, “Wynonna Earp”, and “Young Drunk Punk”. Alexa is the current director of Bad Dog’s Theatresports - Toronto’s longest running improv show since 1982.
