Bad Dog is excited to announce that submissions are open for our next season of Featured Players!

Featured Players is an Ensemble that will be featured in a number of Bad Dog productions from September 2025 to February 2026. It is intended for performers with a minimum of two years experience with an improv performance practice who are seeking to expand their skills, perform regularly within an ensemble, reach new audiences, and contribute to marquee productions with Bad Dog Theatre Co. This opportunity includes training with our resident directors, performing with our flagship show Theatresports, special talent development events, and participating in the creation of a new original production.

Eligibility Requirements: A comfort level with shortform and longform improvisation (including thematic and narrative styles); A minimum of two years of stage experience with improv is recommended

• Weekly Shows - September to November 2025
  The Bad Dog Featured Players are the resident cast of Theatresports, our flagship show at 7pm on Fridays. You will work on your shortform skills, hosting and your audience-work during rehearsals before the show and receive notes at the end. - This is a paid opportunity

• Bad Dog Feature Presentation - December 2025 to February 2026
  Early work will focus on ensemble-building and group dynamic, followed by heightened stagecraft, audience-work, narrative technique, and diagnostic scenework. Later work will focus on working on a show currently being developed as Bad Dog's Feature Presentation in the Spring 2026. - This is a paid opportunity

The Featured Players will work with a number of directors.

Understudies: Members of this roster of performers may be invited to workshop and understudy our professional shows (e.g. shows like Holiday) and when opportunities arise, will be called upon to perform in these shows alongside our resident cast.

Development opportunities: Beyond invited rehearsals or workshops for specific shows, we will be hosting a minimum four (free) two-hour advanced workshops exclusively for the Bad Dog Featured Players.

Time Commitment: We are asking for a 6-month commitment from this performer roster with an expectation of 3 performances on average per month (at 7pm on Fridays for the first three months, moving to a Studio-type process leading up to a marquee presentation run at the end of February at Factory Theatre) as well as participation in invited workshops and rehearsals.  If you know that you are generally unavailable on these dates over the next year, please do not accept an audition at this time.

Submissions close May 17, 2025, 11:59pm.

Auditions: We will be running 50-minute-long auditions, at Factory Studio with no more than 16 participants in each. AN AUDITION IS NOT ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY TO BE CONSIDERED. All submissions will be considered, regardless of whether you are able to participate in the audition.  If you can’t make the audition, but are still interested in being considered, please send us a resume and the contact information for two references who can speak to your experience & strengths.
