Improv Classes
Improv For Embracing Uncertainty
Improv For Embracing Uncertainty
Description: Have you wanted to try improv but feel too anxious to dip in your toes? Have you heard that improv has helped others better manage their stress and anxiety and curious to know why? Improv For Embracing Uncertainty is the class that teaches improv fundamentals through the specific lens of it’s connection to wellness. Discover the pillars of the practice at your own pace while cultivating the skills of play, presence, and connection through a gently-guided (but still funny), invitational approach to improv.
While Improvisation is most famous as a style of comedy performance, it’s underlying techniques can also have demonstrated positive impact on health. Besides being a fun way to laugh and socialize, improvisation technique trains the learner to embrace the unknown and develop strategies to thrive in uncertainty. Psychologists believe these qualities are the key why improv can help improve overall wellbeing, reduce social anxiety, and increase their tolerance to uncertainty.
Please Note: While this class is oriented around wellness concepts and may provide benefit, please note that Bad Dog and its instructors are not licensed health professionals and no Bad Dog class should be considered a substitute for proper medical treatment.
Goal: To orient the fundamental concepts of improvisation technique in a context that specifically prioritizes play, connection, and embracing uncertainty and connects improv practice to improved wellness.
