Audition slots are available on Tue Apr 22 and Apr Feb 27 @ Bad Dog Studios - 392 Spadina Ave. The auditions are for the upcoming Thematic Longform Studio Program. Please read below for more information.

ON THE AUDITIONS & PROGRAM:
Students may audition even if they are not available or interested in the specific corresponding programs.

But those who are auditioning for consideration in the Thematic Longform Studio Program should be prepared for the a 3-Level (approx. 6 months) Studio Series commitment. Classes will start in Term 3 2025 (May-Jun), continue into Term 4 2025 (Jul-Aug), and finish in Term 5 2025 (Sep-Oct) - with the same ensemble and director. Each term consists of around 21 hours of class time plus 2 additional performances in front of an audience ($325+HST per term). There will also be graduation shows in October (dates TBD).

About The Director:
Alfred Chow is an improv performer, teacher, and Bad Dog Resident Artist. He has performed and taught improv around the world (on 4 continents so far). Alfred’s improv work in Toronto includes producing the long-running hit shows All Of Us Are Naughty and All Of Us Are Asian, and his award-winning work with the improv duo Mahjong Mafia - which whom Alfred has won the World’s Biggest Improv Tournament. As an instructor, Alfred has taught and coached countless students, troupes, and workshops with institutions across North America and Europe. His own studies include work with Joe Bill, Susan Messing, Dave Razowsky, Jamie Moyer, Will Hines, UCB, iO, and The Groundlings - among others.

Program Description: This program focuses on longform improv that uses thematic exploration as it’s organizing principle. Unlike longform improv that centres narrative structure to connect improvised scenes, thematic longform has liberty to experiment with abstraction and alternative structure - including a wider variety of editing techniques, staging possibilities, and performance styles. The ensemble will learn several established thematic longform styles before developing their own original format. The graduation shows in October will be debut of that original form.

Program Goal: To deepen ones improv practice by experimenting with form and structure, to practice a number of established forms, to develop greater ensemble skills, and to create an original improv form together as a group
