SPECIAL WORKSHOP: GAME OF THE SCENE (BUT IT’S FUN) (WITH ALEX KOLANKO)

About This Workshop: Would you like to get better at heightening, exploring, and finding game while improvising? Do you sometimes find yourself in your own head during improv scenes? Do story structure and game of the scene concepts feel like “comedy math”? Would you like to get better at applying your unique voice to your improv? If any of these apply to you, this is the class to try! Students will learn how to better express their comedic voice through scenework, game, and point of view.

Prerequisites: Improv Foundation 3 or equivalents.

About Your Instructor: Alex Kolanko is a writer, actor, and a veteran of Toronto’s sketch and improv communities. He has performed regularly with Bad Dog Theatre Company, sketch comedy juggernaut The Sketchersons, and multimedia comedy group Public Works - with whom he co-created the viral online series Shitty Tasty. Alex is also the creator of popular live shows The Disaster and Super Hot Date Night. His projects as a writer include the plays The Park Bench Scene From Good Will Hunting Done 9 Times Each Time A Little More Drunk and the hit KidsFest play Gremlin Hour, which debuted at the Toronto Fringe Festival. Most recently, Alex wrote and directed the mockumentary Let's Gentrify Hamilton for Bell Fibe TV1.
