studio series: sketch comedy ensemble

Description: This program focuses on the creation of comedy sketches and creating a full-length show. The ensemble will work with their director to conceive ideas, write material, develop it through improvisation and ensemble work, and put it on-stage. Through this process, students will: get reps turning ideas into polished, audience-ready final product, create and collaborate effectively in a writers room room setting, elevate their live performance skills, benefit from working closely with a new ensemble, use their improv fundamentals as a writing tool, deepen their understanding of the theory behind the form, create dozens of great comedy sketches, and have fun in the process.

Goal: To develop an understanding of sketch comedy structure, learn a process to develop ideas into performable sketches, and work together to create a written sketch comedy show. Prerequisite: By audition and invitation only.

Class Size: 9 people max.
Duration: 7 weeks, 3 hours per week,. 21 hours total

(Please Note: There are 2 student process showcases for this class that will take place during the term. Dates and Locations TBD). VENUE ACCESSIBILITY: This class location may not be fully wheelchair accessible.
