Comedy Writing
Writing A Comedy Packet
Writing A Comedy Packet
Description: Many comedians transition from performing improv, sketch, and stand-up live on stage to comedy writing for tv, radio, and other mediums. And entering that world - whether it’s for talk shows, variety, reality competition shows, informational programming, sports programs, radio shows, or sketch comedy series - usually requires producing a comedy writing packet. This class will help students understand what’s required for a packet and how best to translate your comedic voice into the form via topical jokes and sketches.
Goal: To understand the purpose and form of a comedy writing packet, to guide students in creating an original packet of their own, and learn repeatable processes to simplify this particular type of writing.
Prerequisite: At least some experience creating your own comedy (improv, sketch, stand up, other writing, etc.) and an interest in pursuing comedy writing.
Class Size:10 maximum
Duration: 12.5 Hours Total (2.5 Hrs/Class)
Location: CSI Spadina - 192 Spadina Ave
