About The Director: Alessandra Vite is a writer, actor, director, and sketch comedian. She teaches sketch comedy and improv at Humber College, Bad Dog, and The Second City Training Centre - where she’s directed several revues for their Conservatory Program. Alessandra is also an alumna of The Second City Touring Company, the former head writer of The Sketchersons, and has toured the North American festival circuit with her troupe The Flirty Boys. Her first Sketch Ensemble co-hort with Bad Dog (Owl Citizens) went on to feature at The Toronto Sketch Comedy Festvial this past spring.

Description: This program focuses on the creation of comedy sketches and creating a full-length show. The ensemble will work with their director to conceive ideas, write material, develop it through improvisation and ensemble work, and put it on-stage. Through this process, students will: get reps turning ideas into polished, audience-ready final product, create and collaborate effectively in a writers room setting, elevate their live performance skills, benefit from working closely with a new ensemble, use their improv fundamentals as a writing tool, deepen their understanding of the theory behind the form, create dozens of great comedy sketches, and have fun in the process.

Goal: To develop an understanding of sketch comedy structure, learn a process to develop ideas into performable sketches, and work together to create a written sketch comedy show.
