Winter Youth & Teen Classes

Bad Dog Theatre's Youth and Teen classes are some of our most popular offerings. Taught by our Youth Academy Instructors over seven weeks, your kids will learn the in's and out's of performing improv, while honing in on important life skills as well!

Youth Intro: Building a World

 Grades 5-8 |  Sat & Sun January 13th- March 3rd. 

This introductory class, with the focus on worldbuilding, will teach basic terminology, the art of Yes and…, & working as a team all while playing fun improv games (like Whose Line is it Anyway?) that help unlock creativity, increase confidence and develop impulses & play.

Students get to show off their prowess at the end of the term at a fun Showcase that is open to friends and family. Showcase March 4th

 Grades 9-12 | Thurs. January 11th- March 1st.

This introductory class, with a focus on scene structure, will teach you basic terminology, the art of Yes and…, & working as a team all while playing fun improv games (like Whose Line is it Anyway?) that help unlock creativity, increase confidence and develop impulses & play.

NEW! Youth Advanced Ensemble Term 1: Building Character

 Grades 5-8 |  Sat  January 13th- March 3rd.

Behind every great improv scene is a strong ensemble with interesting characters. Refresh your skills and build an ensemble with 11 other eager and experienced teen improvisors. In these two sessions youths (grades 5-8) will build on their previous improv skills and develop a group mind that will take your scenes to the next level. Students will also be learning how to develop rich, interesting characters that drives the scenes forward in a whole new exciting way.  

Students get to show off their prowess at the end of the term at a fun Showcase that is open to friends and family. Showcase March 4th

NEW! Teen Performance Ensemble Term 1: Building an Ensemble

 Grades 9-12 |  Friday Jan 12th- March 2nd.

Behind every great improv show is a strong ensemble. Refresh your skills and build an ensemble with 11 other teens eager to flex their skills on stage. In these two sessions teens (Grade 9-12) will build on their previous improv skills and develop a group mind that will take your scenes to the next level. Students will also touch on the concept of formats in an improv show, such as Theatresports and Toronto, I Love You.

Think fast on your feet, follow your impulse, and work in harmony with your ensemble to create performances audiences will be convinced they were pre-written. 

Students taking part in the TPE get to show off their prowess in two performance opportunities.
