Bad Dog News and Updates

JOIN OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS

For over 20 years, we've specialized in the art of unscripted comedy and improvised performance and have provided affordable, accessible improv training for thousands of people of all ages and experience.

Dubbed “Toronto’s improv hub” by NOW Magazine and led by renowned improv veteran Julie Dumais Osborne, Bad Dog presents Theatresports – Toronto’s longest running improv show – every Saturday plus shows throughout the week at Toronto’s premiere indie comedy venue –Comedy Bar.

Following the completion of a strategic plan in 2013, the Bad Dog Theatre Company is looking for board members to play a part in the company’s next stage of growth, widening its audience, diversifying its revenues, and helping to keep its record of fiscal responsibility and solid management on track.  Some of the specific skills we’re looking for include financial management, governance, and, of course, fundraising skills.

Our committed board, chaired by Margaret Eaton, is looking to add three members to the team. If you want to make a difference to the lives of artists in Canada, and make a contribution to a well-run not-for-profit organization through volunteer board membership, please write us at info[at]baddogtheatre.com today!

IMPROV IN CANADA: THE WEST

Academy Tuesday presents...

Improv in Canada: The West

As always, the first Tuesday of the month is something special! This month we are putting on a workshop with a special West Coast focus. Improvisors from Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary will be leading us in games, exercises and warm ups they learned in their original cities. We've got a lot of expats here in Toronto... come see what they bring to the scene!

TWO STRIKES

JASON AGNEW, loveable radio host and all around "good guy", is showing us his ugly side. The side that boos at shows, the side that isn't afraid to be honest, the side that wants to pit otherwise amicable and cooperative improvisers against each other in an ego-shredding, short form show.

TWO STRIKES comes to COMEDY BAR this Wednesday, APRIL 30 at 8:00pm.

WHO WILL SURVIVE AND WHO WILL... DIE?

LOVE IS + TROUBABOUR

...a spring romance!
Don't miss this rare chance to catch the hilariously charming homage to the quintessential romantic comedy - LOVE IS...

9:30pm: TROUBADOUR
The award-nominated ultimate musical improv showdown returns to Comedy Bar for ONE NIGHT ONLY. Five aspiring Troubadours enter the arena of melodic battle but only one will be left standing - and YOU get to decide whose story will make it to the end.

Hosted by Darryl Pring and starring: Kirsten Rasmussen, Kris Siddiqi, Reid Janisse, Ann Pornel & Ashley Comeau with music by Chris New.

Tickets: $12 / $10 students
***OR JUST $15 FOR BOTH SHOWS!!!!***

THE SUMMONING

THE DAY HAS DAWNED. THE TIME HAS COME. THE SUMMONING HAS ARRIVED.

BARE WITNESS TO ROB NORMAN'S SFS3 CLASS AS THEY DO BATTLE ON THE COMEDY BAR STAGE AS THE FORCES OF GOOD AND EVIL.

This Tuesday at 8pm following our 7pm $5 drop in, watch as two teams of improvisers face off in a ritual as old as time to stave off the destruction of the world at the hands of Cthulu. Your votes will determine whether the Bad Dog Players win and the world is saved from madness and destruction at the hands of an Old One or if the Cthulu Death Cult get their wish and YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO SEE LIVE COMEDY (or your loved ones) AGAIN.
