MUSICAL IMPROV Studio
What is it? This course is for performers who have tried musical improv and want to deepen their skills. Classes will aim at honing each performer's technical skill, musical knowledge, and sharpening their instincts in improvised songs. Each week active participation will give students the opportunity to practice solos, duets, trios, madrigals, ensemble work and narrative structure. Students should have experience in improv and be comfortable singing in front of an audience.
How does the program work?
The levels work as follows:
- Level 1: musical scenes/games
- Level 2: musical forms
- Level 3: original show creation
When is it? Saturdays 12-2:30pm | January 7th - March 4th (no class Feb 18th Family Day)
Duration: 2.5hrs/ week for 8 weeks
PLEASE NOTE: live performance & subsequent feedback is a key component of the Musical Improv Studio. Participants must commit to availability for showcase dates at Academy Tuesday
