MAY 25-30: COMBUSTION returns to Toronto
From May 25-30, 2015, the COMBUSTIONfestival will set the Bad Dog Comedy Theatre ablaze with a week-long celebration of unscripted comedy, improvised theatre, unexpected collaborations, and large-scale mischief. Returning to Toronto after a four year hiatus, COMBUSTION brings together some of the most exciting, talented, boundary-pushing, genre-bending, industry-leading improvisers we know to showcase what they do best and to collaborate together on festival-exclusive projects and shows.
(Also, dance parties.)
Originally produced by local improv collective PROJECTproject, the COMBUSTIONfestival has found a new home at Bad Dog’s brand new space in the heart of Bloor & Ossington’s emerging comedy corridor.
Since the festival’s inception in 2008, COMBUSTION has played host to a stunning cross-section of North American improv talent including: CRUMBS (Winnipeg), The Sunday Service (Vancouver), Parallelogramophonograph (Austin), 4TRACK (New York), Ted & Melanie (Chicago), Picnicface (Halifax), Rapid Fire Theatre (Edmonton), !nstant Theatre (Vancouver), Dad’s Garage (Atlanta), Uncalled For (Montreal) & CRUSH improv (Ottawa).
Stay tuned for the announcement of our 2015 lineup & guest workshop series!
“The third annual Combustion Festival has quickly established a reputation for bringing exceptional improvisers from all over North America together for a week of performances and workshops. The workshops up the game of local performers, and the resulting shows, often featuring a mash-up of comics who’ve only recently met, are a joy to watch.” - Torontoist
“It had me in stitches” - blogTO
“One of the liveliest, joyful, and [most] ridiculous nights I have experienced… I have no words to describe; really, my mind was blown out of its skull.” - TWISI Theatre Blog
“My main memory of last year’s COMBUSTIONfestival involves an inebriated onstage dance party to R.Kelly’s Ignition with a lot of dudes in plaid shirts.” - She Does the City
