Micetro is Keith Johnstone’s famous Survivor-style, round-robin elimination contest, where improvisors work together to score points per scene in the hopes of being the last player standing. After each round the people with the most points continue to the next round. The person with the most points at the end of the hour is the winner, earns a $5 prize, and is guaranteed a spot in next week's show. Along the way, they are coached and guided by expert directors, who set up each scene and keep the laughs on track.
Micetro is on every Wednesday at 8pm. You can buy tickets online or at the box office the night of!
Join us on Saturday evenings for a taste of how we do what we do in our flagship show: making hilarious things up, live on the spot. Try it yourself at our 6pm Saturday Drop-In or watch as a cast of improvisers - from the very green to seasoned professionals - puts those same skills to the test in front of a live audience at 7pm in a variety of fun (& funny!) show formats, each led by one of our resident directors. It's the perfect warm-up for our main event at 8pm: Theatresports.
Back by popular demand, The Curator returns to the Bad Dog stage after a hit run in the fall of 2014. Each show is inspired by a different piece of art, chosen and introduced by that week's curator. The curator has five minutes to set the stage for our award-winning cast members, who then take over to create a completely improvised one-act comedy inspired by that work of art.
The Curator is the brainchild of Haligonian improviser Henri Geilis, lovingly adapted by the Bad Dog Theatre Company and featuring the extraordinary talents of Kayla Lorette, Sean Tabares, Evany Rosen, James Gangl, Colin Munch, Anders Yates, Dan Beirne, Kris Siddiqi, Craig Anderson, Lucy Hill & Roger Bainbridge. Directed by Bad Dog’s Artistic Director Julie Dumais Osborne.
Set in Edwardian Toronto, Rooms is a rollicking improvised farce about the lords and ladies of the house, and the domestics who serve them. Director Sandy Marshall has devised this “3D play” in a way that allows the audience to see the same window of time through the very different lenses of the inhabitants of the house. Even the best houses are not without turmoil now and again.
Starring: Ashley Marie Comeau (Live Journal, Wayward), Connor Thompson (Second City, Throne of Games), Diana Frances (Vancouver Theatresports League), Greg Komorowski (Chef in Your Ear - Food Network Canada), Lisa Merchant (Monkey Toast, Train 48), and Sam Roulston (The Expat Show). Directed by Sandy Marshall (iO Chicago, Schadenfreude)

The follow-up to director Colin Munch's spring run of The Board, The PATH is an unscripted comedy that delves beneath the surface of Toronto's underground pedestrian labyrinth of the same name. Indie businesses duke it out with corporate behemoths, cellphone kiosk empires rise and fall, eyebrow threaders lurk in every corner: there is a war waged under our feet that ends at 5pm every day... and only on weekdays.
Every Tuesday we host classes for students aged 13-17! Come stop by after school and get a taste of what improv at Bad Dog is like. Every class is different and will explore a variety of improv techniques for new & experienced performers.
You can reserve a spot for $7 ahead of time (we cap our youth classes at 12 students) or try your luck at the door for $5!
A Galaxy Far, Far Away, an unscripted comedy inspired by George Lucas' Star Wars films.
A Galaxy Far, Far Away includes familiar favorites from one of the best loved movie series of all times, with the fresh originality of unscripted comedy. Each show is a completely unique, standalone episode, in which original characters face a new set of intergalactic discoveries and dangers within the Star Wars universe. With all of the adventure, action, and imagination of the original movies, this unscripted comedy highlights the unsung (and unheard of) characters just off screen. Paying homage to its source material, A Galaxy Far, Far Away imagines a new group of unlikely Rebel alliance leaders, bizarre alien species, and evil Empire minions. If you’ve ever wondered who was keeping the dark side at bay while Luke and Leia were sharing that one weird kiss, this show is for you.
Directed by acclaimed Toronto improvisor Jess Bryson (Bad Dog Repertory Players) this production features a fantastic crew of renowned comedic performers. A Galaxy Far, Far Away encourages its audience to participate and affect the outcome of the characters' adventures, so grab your tickets, and get on board.
Bad Dog is also thrilled to announce a partnership with Fan Expo Canada, Toronto Comicon and Fan Days: Holiday Show, who will be running a contest for free tickets to our December 11th and 18th shows. A very special holiday episode of a totally improvised sitcom.
Directed by Evany Rosen (Picnicface, Space Janitors), ThePageantis a wildly irreverent celebration of the best - and worst - parts of the holiday season, all gift-wrapped up in an unscripted package that pays homage to the rich tradition of "very special" sitcom episodes. Each show focuses on a different family's quest to come to terms with a huge piece of news and find the true meaning of the season (both as suggested by the audience) and culminates in the classic show-within-a-show device: the staging of a holiday pageant that pulls the whole motley cast of characters together.
